Two-Day Campus AI Programme and AI-Based Short Video Competition

A two-day Campus AI Programme and AI-Based Short Video Competition was successfully organized at the NIIST Campus in accordance with AICTE and MIC guidelines, with the objective of promoting innovation, creativity, and practical understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) among students. The programme was aligned with national initiatives such as Atmanirbhar Bharat, Digital India, and Skill India, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.

On Day One, an AI-oriented expert lecture was delivered by Prof. Shivam Varshi, During the session, he shared insights on emerging AI technologies, cyber security integration with AI, ethical and responsible AI adoption, and future career opportunities in AI-driven industries. His industry-oriented and practical approach helped students clearly understand the relevance of AI in real-world applications. The lecture was followed by an AI Robot Showcase, where students were exposed to AI-enabled robotic demonstrations, encouraging experiential and hands-on learning. More than 70 students actively attended the workshop, making the session highly interactive and impactful.

Based on student engagement and interest, 25 students were shortlisted for the AI-Based Short Video Competition, conducted on Day Two. The competition aimed to provide a creative platform for students to present AI concepts through digital storytelling. Participants showcased short videos highlighting AI applications in education, campus life, social impact, automation, and future career pathways, demonstrating originality, technical understanding, and creativity.

The competition was inaugurated by Dr. Puran Gour, IIC President and Principal, NIIST, along with Prof. Shivam Varshi, IIC Convenor. The programme was graced by Dr. Mukesh Singh (NSS), Prof. Himanshu Verma (HOD Civil), Prof. Abhishek Mahate (HOD Mechanical), Prof. Jalaj Tenguria, Prof. Pranjali Pachpor, Prof. Rajkumar, Prof. Narendra, and other esteemed faculty members, whose presence encouraged student participation and innovation.

The evaluation was carried out by a jury comprising Mr. Abhaya Joshi (Director Training & Placement), Dr. Geetika (Technical Programmer), Prof. Neena Selot (Corporate Trainer), along with IIC Student Representatives Anamol and Shubham Kumar. Entries were assessed based on originality, relevance, technical clarity, creativity, and ethical AI representation.

Event – Technoverse 2025

Technoverse 2025, a technical academic event, was successfully organized on 13 December 2025 by the Student Technical Club in collaboration with the Department of Computer ScienceArtificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (CSIT)  at NIIST. The event was conducted at the Second Floor, CSE Department, NIIST.

The theme of the event, “The Impact of CSE and AI & ML on the Rural Society of India,” highlighted the role of emerging technologies in solving real-world challenges faced by rural communities. The primary objective of the event was to encourage innovation, technical excellence, research orientation, and socially relevant problem-solving among students.

The event began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the gracious presence of Dr. Vandana Khare, Dean Academics, and Dr. Puran Gaur, Principal, NIIST. Technoverse 2025 was conducted in three structured phases: Paperless Presentation, Poster Making, and Model Making. More than 80 students actively participated across all categories, with 37 students in paperless presentations, 39 students in poster making, and 6 students in model making.

Outstanding contributions were recognized through awards. The Best Paperless Presentation Award was awarded to Jyoti Dubey and Anamika Verma (1st Year). The Best Poster Award was secured by Anmol Swarnkar, Harsh Mehra, and Shubham Kumar (3rd Year), while the Best Model Award was conferred upon Sakshi Kumari and Sakshi Bisen.

The event concluded with a motivational address by Prof. Anurag Shrivastava, HOD – CSE Department, who encouraged students to pursue innovation and apply technology for societal development. Technoverse 2025 emerged as a successful academic initiative, fostering creativity, sustainability, and awareness of the transformative impact of CSE and AI & ML on society.

Seminar on Prompt Engineering on 04-12-2025

The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning conducted an informative Seminar on Prompt Engineering aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of AI-driven
communication skills. The expert speaker, Mr. Irshad Ali, provided an in-depth overview of how Large Language Models (LLMs) work and how well-designed prompts
significantly improve the quality of AI responses.
The session covered key topics such as:
Fundamentals of Prompt Engineering
Techniques for creating effective and structured prompts
Role of context, constraints, and examples in prompting
Live demonstrations using AI tools
Best practices and ethical considerations in AI usage
Students from CSE, AIML, CSIT, IT branches and Master of Computer Application actively participated and gained practical insights into using
AI tools for academics, projects, coding tasks, and research. The seminar helped learners develop essential skills to utilize modern
AI systems more responsibly and efficiently. The department extends its appreciation to Mr. Irshad Ali for delivering a highly engaging and valuable session.

Cyber Security Awareness Month (October) Campaign 31st
October 2025

As part of the 2025 Cyber Security Awareness Month, an expert lecture was held at NIIST, Bhopal. The session was led by Professor Shivam Varshi, a recognized Cyber Security Expert and Volunteer with the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), New Delhi.

During his presentation, Professor Varshi provided valuable insights into various forms of cybercrime, including online fraud, phishing, data breaches, social media misuse, identity theft, and cyberbullying. He also informed students and faculty about preventive measures and practical cybersecurity tips to enhance online safety.

The primary objective of this session was to raise awareness and foster a cyber-safe culture among young individuals and academic stakeholders. The active participation during the Q&A segment contributed to a highly interactive and impactful event.

This lecture was an integral part of the IIC calendar activities and significantly supported the institution’s digital literacy and cyber hygiene initiatives.

Poster Making Competition on 11/11/2024

A Poster Making Competition was held on National Education Day with the theme “Applications of AI.” The event highlighted the significance of AI across various engineering fields.

10-Day FDP on AI & ML-Jr. Telecom Data Analyst (16/10/2024 to 26/10/2024)

A 10-day FDP aimed at enhancing knowledge of modern data analysis tools and practices. The program, led by Ms. Kaushiki Upadhyay, focused on equipping faculty and industry professionals with essential skills for data analysis.

Expert Lecture on “Recent Advances in Deep Reinforcement Learning” by Dr. Anil K. Yadav

The AIML/CSIT Department at NIIST Bhopal hosted an expert lecture on November 16, 2024, featuring Dr. Anil K. Yadav from VIT University, Bhopal. The session introduced Reinforcement Learning (RL), a key AI field for decision-making, covering its basics, Markov Decision Processes, Q-Learning, and real-world applications like robotics and autonomous vehicles.

Students engaged actively, discussing practical challenges in RL. Key takeaways included RL’s role in solving dynamic problems and the importance of academia-industry collaboration. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, inspiring attendees to delve deeper into this advanced domain.

Kho Kho Event on Date October 19th, 2024

In the kho-kho match two teams are winner. The inter college Kho-Kho competition was held on 19th October 2024. There are 9 teams are participated in the game. Out of these the NIIST team got first prize and VISMT team got second prize. The girls played very well & won the tournament.

3 Day’s Workshop on Cyber Security

The 3 days workshop on Cyber Security held at Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium, NRI, aimed to address the growing importance of cyber security awareness and skills among students and professionals. Led by experienced trainer Mr Sushit Soni, the workshop brought together faculty, students, and industry representatives to gain insight into modern cybersecurity practices and the skills required to protect digital assets.

Dr. Puran Gour, Principal of NIIST, inaugurated the workshop with a speech emphasizing the critical role cyber security plays in today’s digital age. Prof. Mahendra Sahare (HOD, AIML & CSIT) served as the convener, and Prof. Vandna Gautam coordinated the sessions, ensuring the workshop’s smooth execution.

Industrial Visit at Matereological Centre (Ministry of Earth Science), Arera Hills Bhopal

The industrial visit to the Meteorological Center was organized by Department of AI&ML for 50 Students from IV & VI semester. The purpose of the visit was to provide insights into the functioning, technologies, and operations of a meteorological center, which plays a crucial role in weather forecasting, monitoring, and related services.

About the Workshop: The workshop commenced with an introductory session providing an overview of NLP, its applications, and its significance in various domains. Basic concepts such as tokenization, stemming, and part-of-speech tagging were explained to familiarize students with the foundational components of NLP Hands-on Projects. The workshop concluded with hands-on project sessions where students had the opportunity to apply their newly acquired knowledge in practical NLP tasks.

About The webinar:

A one-day online session on Openshift and Containers in order to spread literacy among the student regarding Open-Source software, cyber security and development based on Openshift was held.Thereafter he started discussing about Linux and Openshift, and explained about how they are created and the way containers works stressing on their role in the Industry Infrastructure, and the way it  reduces the cost.  He talked how to launch the containerized application and how they can be integrated with different platforms.

A wonderful session of question and answer was held where students asked various questions regarding the openshift and how linux is beneficial for them to learn cloud computing

The major perspective of this event was too aware the student about different platforms and technology explaining the way how they can grow in their future.

Hindi Diwas on 14 Sep 23

On the occasion of Hindi Diwas (September 14), the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning conducted an essay writing competition for the students of AIML III Semester. The topic of the essay was “The Important of Hindi. “After this competition, the first, second, and third best essays were awarded to the students.

In the seminar, basic information is given to the students regarding programming languages and tools related to the field of information technology, which are important for placements. At least one skill (AI, ML, web development, data science, etc.) is mandatory for all students related to the IT field for a better job opportunity. This seminar also gave lots of motivational and spiritual ideas related to how to manage time between the college curriculum and learning other languages, tools, personality development skills, etc. that are required for placements. In this seminar, students learn about the importance of hard work for the future.
