Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2000 with the inception of the Institute to produce high quality in the branch of Mechanical engineering.

  1. The department has high-quality laboratories in the area of heating and cooling systems, conveying systems, Robotics.
  2. Mechanical engineering overlaps with aerospace engineering, building accommodations engineering, metallurgical engineering, marine engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, petroleum engineering, manufacturing engineering, and chemical engineering to varying amounts.
  3. It has a research focus to develop sustainable energy sources that will benefit society and the environment.

Mission

  • M1– To impart quality engineering education to students and enhance their skills to make them competitive world-wide in the various fields of mechanical engineering such as Production, thermal engineering, Automobile Engineering, Product Design & Development, Materials Technology, Quality Control,& Maintenance engineering.
  •  M2- Constantly strive to improve pedagogical methods employed in delivering the academic programs.
  • M3- To advance the well-being of society through excellence in teaching, research, and service that exploits the rapidly changing technical diversity of mechanical engineering.
  • M4- Provide consultancy to the neighborhood and cultivate the spirit of entrepreneurship.

Program Outcomes

  • PO1-The graduates will be able to apply knowledge of basic sciences (math’s, physics, chemistry, etc.) and engineering (core and elective subjects) in getting solutions to mechanical engineering-related problems.
  • PO2-The graduates will be able to design and conduct experiments as well as analyze and interpret data.
  • PO3-The graduates will be able to design a system or a component of a system for a specific task within realistic constraints.
  • PO4-The graduates will be able to undertake multi-disciplinary courses and tasks.
  • PO5-The graduates will be able to formulate and apply the knowledge of mathematical techniques in solving the governing equations of a system under consideration.
  • PO6-The graduates will be able to develop industrial and professional ethics and managerial skills.
  • PO7-The graduates will be able to communicate effectively their points of view.
  • PO8-The graduates will be able to study the impact of mechanical systems on the global, economic, environmental, and societal context.

  • PO10-The graduate will be able to use modern tools, software, equipment, etc. to analyze and obtain solutions to the problems.

The curriculum for Mechanical Engineering is set by R.G.P.V University BHOPAL. The courses in the curriculum are such that they satisfy all the objectives and outcomes defined for the program.

By the end of the educational experience our students should have learned to:

  • We provide our labs for ‘Eicher tractors’ for testing machinery.
  • We are the only department to train SSB officers.
  • The team Robotics bagged two awards in consecutive years.
  • Signed MOU with Indo-German.   
  • Regular visits to the industries, CROs, and R & D centers and strong industry-academy interaction.
  • Grooming and training of students with the development of communication skills and soft skills etc
  • Teaching beyond the syllabus in each subject to keep updated students with the latest happening in the field.
