NIIST Organized a Construction site visit on the topic of Bar Bending Schedule
The Department of Civil Engineering at NRI Institute of Information Science and Technology (NIIST), Bhopal, organized a construction site visit on the topic of Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) for 4th and 6th semester students at the guest house building within the NRI campus, Bhopal, on 2nd April 2026. The visit was coordinated by Prof. Mayank Manikpuri and Prof. Mahesh Wichhele from the Department of Civil Engineering.
Objective:
The main objective of the visit was to provide practical exposure to the application of Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) in construction. Students observed the processes of measuring, cutting, and bending reinforcement bars as per required specifications. The visit also helped them understand the preparation of BBS for accurate steel quantity estimation and reduction of material wastage. Overall, it enhanced their practical knowledge by linking theoretical concepts with real-world construction practices.

A one-day material testing lab training was conducted on 2nd February, at Civil Department NIIST where students performed three experiments: Los Angeles abrasion test, Setting time of cement test, and Slump cone test on concrete
Industrial Visit for 5th Semester – 28th January 2026
The Department of Civil Engineering, NRI INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY BHOPAL, organized an industrial visit for 5th semester students to the Kerva Dam Water Treatment Plant, Municipal Corporation, Bhopal on 28th January 2026. The visit aimed to provide hands-on experience with large-scale water treatment and purification processes. The event was planned by Prof. Himanshu Verma, Department of Civil Engineering, NRI INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY BHOPAL, with support from the Bhopal Municipal Corporation, Kerva Dam.

A vibrant Musical Jamming Session was organized on April 11, 2025, at NRI Institute of Information Science & Technology, Bhopal.
The event, performed by the talented Rhythm Musical Group, brought energy and excitement to the NIIST Open Ground from 12:45 PM to 1:25 PM.

The Civil Engineering Department of NRI Institute of Information Science and Technology, Bhopal, organized an inter-departmental project presentation for VIII-semester students on March 24, 2025. Expert Talk Report
The Civil Engineering Department of NRI Institute of Information Science and Technology (NIIST), Bhopal, organized an expert talk on “Insights into Modern Engineering Practices and Industry Trends” on November 30, 2024. Mr. Jay Pratap, an experienced engineer from L&T Services, delivered the session, focusing on the evolving civil engineering landscape. He discussed industry trends like sustainability, automation, and digitalization, along with challenges and technological advancements such as BIM, AI, and IoT. Mr. Pratap also guided students on career development and essential skills. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, leaving students motivated and well-informed about industry opportunities.

On September 28, 2024, VII Semester Civil Engineering students from NRI Institute of Information Science and Technology will showcase their innovative projects during the first-year orientation program. This presentation aims to inspire new students by highlighting practical applications of civil engineering concepts and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
