Anti Ragging Committee

About Ragging:

Ragging is a criminal offence. Ragging is strictly prohibited by both State Govt. & Central Govt. Hence, Senior Students are instructed not to involve in any ragging either directly or indirectly, inside or outside the campus. If anybody is found involved in ragging then his/her whole life will be spoiled. Punishment for ragging will be as imposed. Strict action will be taken against persons flouting this rule; no leniency is shown. Suspension and/or withdrawal from the hostel/ college is the first action against the offender. The Supreme Court of India has also defined ragging as a criminal offense.

Definition of Student Ragging:

Any conduct by a student, whether by words spoken or written or by an act that includes physical abuse, lewd acts, teasing, rough or rude treatment, indulging in rowdy, undisciplined, and obscene activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, undue hardship, physical or psychological harm or mental trauma or raise apprehension or fear in a fresher / junior student or other students or forcing a student to do any act which such a student is not willing to do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment or danger to a student’s life or adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.

Punishment:

The students found guilty will be punished with 2 years of imprisonment and a fine which may extend to Rs. 10000/-.

An ”Anti- Ragging Squad Committee” of students has been formed with the following faculties and staff members for the academic year 2023-24 as per directives of UGC and BCI. The committee will act as usual in the college. The members of the committee are:

Power & Functions of Anti-Ragging Committee:

  1. To uphold and comply with the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and be vigilant on any acts amounting to ragging.
  2. To inform all students and prevalent directives of action that can be taken against those indulged in ragging.
  3. To consider complaints received from the student and conduct inquiry and submit a report to the principal along with punishment recommended for the offenders.
  4. Form anti Ragging Squads to make surprise visits and take effective steps to prevent ragging.
  5. Oversee the procedure of obtaining an undertaking from the students in accordance with the provisions.
  6. Conduct workshops against the ragging menace and orient the students.
  7. To provide students with the information pertaining to the contact address and Telephone no. of the person Identify to receive complaints /distress calls.
  8. To offer service of counseling and create awareness measures for prevention of ragging inside the campus.
  9. The committee shall monitor the functioning of Anti- Ragging Squad.
