The Department of Pharmacology at NRI Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a one-day workshop on “Animal Handling”, aimed at providing hands-on experience and deep insights into ethical, safe, and scientific handling of laboratory animals in pharmaceutical research. Dr Jagdish Rathi Principal of NIPS emphasized the significance of preclinical studies and the vital role of ethical animal handling in drug development and biomedical research during his interaction to the students
Workshop was taken by Prof Shivani Suryawanshi. The workshop covered essential aspects such as:
Introduction to Laboratory Animals and their Importance in Research
Guidelines for Animal Care and Use as per CPCSEA norms
Ethical Considerations
Techniques of Animal Handling, Restraint, Dosing, and Sample Collection
Demonstrations on handling of small laboratory animals such as mice and rats
Students actively participated and gained valuable practical knowledge and insights into preclinical research methodologies. The interactive hands-on session helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
