Department of Pharmaceutics

We are having three well-equipped pharmaceutics labs I, II &III with all the necessary chemicals and raw materials. Pharmaceutics deals with all facets of the process of turning a new chemical entity (NCE) into a medication that can be used safely and effectively by patients in the community. Department focuses on designing and developing of conventional dosage forms such as a tablet, capsules, syrup, emulsion, suspension, and novel drug delivery systems like a sustained release, controlled, transdermal, ocular, mucoadhesive and targeted drug delivery systems. The M.Pharma program in Pharmaceutics was initiated in the year 2007. Pharmaceutics Department has all modern as well as conventional instrument like Six basket Dissolution apparatus, Disintegration apparatus, Digital balance, Standard coating pan, Hot air Oven, Mechanical Stirrer with a propeller, Homogenizer, Vacuum Pump, Magnetic stirrer with hot plate Pfizer, Monsanto hardness tester, Friability test apparatus, Aseptic cabinet, Hot plate, Heating mantle.

Department of Pharmachemistry

We are having two well equipped pharmaceutical chemistry labs I &II & one pharmaceutical analysis lab with all the necessary chemicals and raw materials. Pharmaceutical chemistry is a discipline at the intersection of chemistry and pharmacology involved in the design, synthesis, and developing drug candidates. Medicinal chemistry involves the identification, synthesis, and development of new chemical entities suitable for therapeutic use. Our Pharmachemistry departmental contributes to teaching in the areas of organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, and drug discovery. Pharmachemistry Department is well equipped with a Rotatory evaporator, Muffle furnace, Vacuum oven, Digital Melting point apparatus, Digital balance, Fuming chamber, Mechanical and magnetic stirrer, Refractometer, Polarimeter, Suction pumps  The focus of the department is the synthesis and screening of various heterocyclic compounds for their pharmacological activities.

Department of Pharmacognosy

Pharmacognosy is the study of medicinal drugs derived from plants or other natural sources. Pharmacognosy is the study of the physical, chemical, biochemical and biological properties of drugs, drug substances or potential drugs or drug substances of natural origin as well as the search for new drugs from natural sources. It is also defined as the study of crude drugs. The department imparts profound knowledge of traditional systems of medicines and studies the safety, efficacy, and biological activity of herbal plants and products. The area of research involves the identification and investigation of medicinal plants for their phytochemical, pharmacological, and microbiological activities. Pharmacognosy department is equipped with a BOD Incubator, Projection microscope, Digital balance, Zone reader, Moisture balance, Microcentrifuge, TLC chamber and sprayer, Sterility testing unit, Soxhlet & Clevenger Extractor, and a herbal museum with a collection of more than 200 crude drugs.

Department of Pharmacology

Pharmacology is the branch of biology concerned with the study of drug action, where a drug can be broadly defined as any man-made, natural, or endogenous (from within the body) molecule which exerts a biochemical or physiological effect on the cell, tissue, organ, or organism. The field encompasses drug composition and properties, synthesis and drug design, molecular and cellular mechanisms, organ/systems mechanisms, signal transduction/cellular communication, molecular diagnostics, interactionstoxicologychemical biology, therapy, and medical applications and antipathogenic capabilities.

The following equipment like Rota Rod, Organ Bath, Sherrington’s Kymograph Machine, Histamine chamber, Spirometer, Actophotometer Haemocytometer, Haemoglobinometer, Analgesiometer, Convulsometer, Digital sugar testing device, Pole climbing apparatus, Sphygmomanometer, etc are available in the Department. This department is involved in the screening of natural and synthetic drugs for their pharmacological activities using in vitro and in vivo models involving preclinical and toxicological studies. Knowledge of experimental skill is imparted to students through computer-aided visuals.

Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is an increasingly important area of biotechnology contributing to the design, development, and delivery of bio Pharmaceuticals new therapeutic drugs & diagnostic agents, such as antibiotics, viral nucleic acids, and therapeutic proteins. In the next century, the major driving force for biotechnology will be the strategic use of genomic information. The pharmaceutical biotechnology department is equipped with BOD apparatus, laminar airflow, Tissue culture station, Orbital incubator, electrophoresis, Micropipette, Vortex, Incubator water bath, colorimeter, centrifuge. The department focuses on antimicrobial studies for synthetic and natural products. The therapeutic efficacy of antimicrobial agents is studied through serum antibacterial assays and therapeutic drug monitoring.
