The NRI Institute of Information Science and Technology (NIIST) hosted a Principals and Directors Meet on 27th November 2014. As there is a rising demand for incorporating Robotics and Embedded Systems based projects in Engineering, it was felt necessary to inculcate superlative initiatives in this direction. With this view, NIIST organized a Principals and Directors Meet on e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative, which is a project sponsored by MHRD through the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT).

Directors, Principals and representatives from nearly 30 engineering colleges of Bhopal participated in the Meet. Chairman NRI Group Shri D. Subodh Singh, in his welcome address, called for more efforts to enhance the quality of projects in technical streams. Dr. S. C. Kapoor, Director NIIST, aquainted the guests with the IIT Initiated programmes being carried out at the institute. Dr. Saraswati Krithivasan, Project Manager e-Yantra, and Dr. Krishna Lala from IIT Bombay were the key speakers during the meeting. They emphasized on enhancing the creative skills of students by developing Robotics applications using the Firebird platform. Being a part of e-Yantra family will also give a competitive advantage to colleges. In order to have scalability and sustainability of the project, institutes are required to invest in establishing Robotics Labs. Dedicated and trained teachers will further strengthen the initiative. An interaction session was also organized in which the delegates discussed about future initiatives and possibilities in the e-Yantra Project.

The programme was highly appreciated by the Directors and Principals of the various institutes. Dr. Monika Vishwakarma, Principal, NIIST concluded the programme by proposing the Vote of Thanks.
